Leicester City midfielder James Maddison will be looking to equal Ruud van Nistlerooy's goalscoring record in Saturday's Premier League meeting with Brentford.

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison will attempt to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy's goalscoring record when the Foxes face Brentford on Saturday.

Brendan Rodgers's side will travel to the Brentford Community Stadium in desperate need of a win following a poor run of form.

A 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea last weekend represented Leicester's fifth straight loss across all competitions.

With four of those defeats taking place in the Premier League, Leicester are languishing in 16th place with goal difference keeping them outside of the bottom three.

They will at least be confident of picking up a positive result against Brentford after avoiding defeat in their last seven league meetings with Saturday's opponents.

As a result, the Foxes have not lost a league game to Brentford in 70 years, with their last loss to the Bees taking place in March 1953.

Although Leicester have experienced a disappointing campaign, Maddison continues to be a key player for his side, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 19 league games this season.

Having scored more goals and registered more assists than any other Leicester player in the top flight this term, Maddison will be crucial to Leicester's survival efforts.

The Englishman will be relishing a trip to the English capital after scoring in each of his last four Premier League away appearances against London sides.

Maddison began the scoring run in a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at the end of the last season, and he has found the net in away meetings with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United this term.

The midfielder now has the chance to become just the second player to score in five consecutive Premier League visits to the capital for a non London-based side.

The feat has only ever been achieved by Van Nistelrooy, who found the net on five successive trips to the capital for Manchester United between September 2002 and September 2003.

Jonny Evans returned from a long spell on the sidelines to feature as a late substitute last weekend, but he has since suffered an injury setback.

Rodgers has revealed that the Northern Ireland international has picked up a knock, which could keep him out of Saturday's clash.

The Foxes are also unable to call upon the services of Victor Kristiansen, Youri Tielemans and James Justin.
