Sven-Goran Eriksson's Leicester side began their push for promotion with a 1-0 win away at Coventry City this afternoon.
Foxes forward Darius Vassell was shown the first red card of the season for a challenge on Richard Keogh after just 10 minutes. Carl Baker's dismissal then balanced the numbers after a tackle on Richie Wellens five minutes before half-time.
Promotion candidates Leicester took the lead soon after the break, after debutant Lee Peltier latched onto Wellens' cross with his head to score the only goal of the game.
Leicester next face League Two outfit Rotherham United in the Carling Cup, while Coventry play Bury.
