Leyton Orient appoint Alberto Cavasin as new manager

Alberto Cavasin is appointed as Leyton Orient's new manager on a two-year deal - his first coaching role in English football.

League Two side Leyton Orient have announced the appointment of Alberto Cavasin as their new manager on a two-year deal.

The Italian coach takes over from Andy Edwards, who was placed in charge on a temporary basis following the sacking of Andy Hessenthaler last week - the Football League's first managerial casualty.

Cavasin has never previously managed in English football, but the 60-year-old boasts experience of managing a number of Serie A clubs, including Fiorentina and Sampdoria.

Edwards will revert back to his previous position as assistant manager, while Danny Webb will continue as first-team coach.

Orient are currently 17th in the fourth tier, having won just three of their first 11 games of the campaign.
