Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Porto

Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final clash with Porto at Anfield.

Liverpool switch focus back to the Champions League in midweek as they welcome Portuguese champions Porto to Anfield for the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

The Reds stuffed the same side 5-0 in the first knockout round last season and are strong favourites to progress through from this latest tussle with the Primeira Liga giants.

Jurgen Klopp's men head into the match with their Premier League title aspirations till intact, courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Southampton on Friday to make it five wins in a row in all competitions.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Liverpool ahead of Tuesday's visit of Porto.

LIVERPOOL'S INJURY LIST

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: April 9 (vs. Porto)

The English midfielder, who played no part against Southampton on Friday, could possibly be sidelined once again with a muscular problem - the latest in a long line of injury issues.

Joe Gomez

Status: Ruled out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: April 14 (vs. Chelsea)

Gomez is currently working his way back to match fitness after more than three months on the sidelines. The versatile defender was thought to be in contention for this tie, but Klopp revealed at his pre-match press conference that he does not intend to take any risks on the player's fitness.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: April 17 (vs. Porto)

It is almost a full year since Oxlade-Chamberlain last played for the Liverpool first team. Having picked up a hamstring strain on his return from that knee injury with the Under-23s, the England international is now working his way back up to fitness and may be back in time for the second leg.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Andrew Robertson

A late yellow card picked up away to Bayern Munich in the last round means that Robertson will be forced to sit out this first leg at Anfield.
