Rangers 'confident' of Steven Gerrard appointment

Rangers are said to be "increasingly confident" of naming Steven Gerrard as their next manager.

Rangers are said to be "increasingly confident" of securing Steven Gerrard as their next manager.

The Ibrox outfit have held talks with the former Liverpool midfielder and are prepared to make him their head coach at the end of the season, reports The Guardian.

The Scottish giants are said to be hoping to hear back from Gerrard this weekend with regard to whether he will accept the job offer and replace Graeme Murty in the summer.

Gerrard, who retired from playing in 2016, is currently coaching Liverpool's youth team.

Rangers were previously linked with Aberdeen boss Derek McGinnis, Kilmarnock's Steve Clarke and Cardiff City head coach Neil Warnock, but Gerrard is said to be the current frontrunner.
