Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum says that it was vital for his team to return to winning ways against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has said that it was vital for his team to return to winning ways in Saturday afternoon's Premier League clash with Huddersfield Town.

Jurgen Klopp's side entered the match off the back of a 4-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Huddersfield frustrated Liverpool for long spells of the first period, but second-half goals from Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Wijnaldum saw the Reds collect all three points at Anfield with a 3-0 success.

"The manager told us not to get frustrated because they were dropping real deep," Wijnaldum told reporters.

"If we keep playing football, they can not cover the spaces all the time. Every win is a big win for us and it was important because we had to give a reaction from the match last week. I think we did well."

Liverpool, who will return to Champions League action with a home game against Maribor on Wednesday night, currently sit in sixth position in the Premier League table - 12 points behind the leaders Manchester City.
