Roma boss Rudi Garcia: 'Fortune decided our fate'

Roma manager Rudi Garcia says that there was little separating his side and Manchester City.

Roma manager Rudi Garcia has declared that fate decided the outcome of his side's 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the Champions League.

The Frenchman believes that both teams played well during the game and were evenly matched, which meant that the result could have gone either way.

"I have no regrets from this match. It was a final and that was the problem. It was a match in which both teams did good things and only fortune decided the result," he told reporters.

"City are a more experienced team and we have to improve on some things. We have to have even more good players if we want to be at the same level as these big teams.

"I feel sorry for my players, we had the chance to qualify but we didn't."

The result sends City into the knockout phase of the competition as Group E runners-up behind Bayern Munich, with third-placed Roma dropping into the Europa League.
