Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini "not afraid" of getting sacked

Manuel Pellegrini insists that he is "not afraid" of losing his job as Manchester City manager because he feels as though the club back him.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted that he has no fears about losing his job.

The Chilean has maintained that he does not feel under pressure, but the club's Premier League title charge will take a huge hit if they are beaten by local rivals Manchester United in Sunday's derby.

Since New Year's Day, the North-West outfit have secured just 18 points from a possible 36 and have dropped out of the FA Cup and Champions League.

Currently, City sit fourth in the table, nine points behind Chelsea, but Pellegrini believes that he has the full support of the hierarchy.

"If you ask me, I am not afraid because I think we are in the correct way but a bad moment," Pellegrini told reporters in this afternoon's press conference. "I am not talking about my future because it is not important. I am just thinking about the game against Manchester United.

"I feel everyone supports me at the club, including the players. I think the players are happy in the way we work and the way we play. I don't see any problems inside the club but you never know what will happen at the end of the season."

City have seven games left in their season.
