Manchester City to offer Pep Guardiola new five-year deal worth £100m?

Manchester City are reportedly planning to offer manager Pep Guardiola a new five-year contract which would keep him at the club until 2024 and see him earn around £100m.

Manchester City are reportedly preparing to offer manager Pep Guardiola a new five-year contract worth around £100m.

Guardiola has established City as the dominant force in English football during his three-year reign at the Etihad Stadium, winning back-to-back Premier League titles and leading his side to an unprecedented domestic treble this season.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich head coach still has two years remaining on his current deal, but Man City are eager to tie him down for longer and the Daily Mail reports that they are preparing fresh terms which would keep him at the club until 2024.

The proposed contract would see Guardiola's annual salary rise from £15m per year to £20m, which Man City hope will be enough to stave off interest from Juventus.

Guardiola has never stayed at a club for longer than four years in his managerial career - his stint with Barcelona from 2008 to 2012 - but recently insisted that he is committed to at least seeing out the final two years of his current deal.

The Man City hierarchy also remain convinced that Guardiola is the man to deliver Champions League glory to the club, despite having failed to reach the final of the competition in any of his last seven seasons as a manager.
