Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez's record vs. Liverpool

Ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash between bitter rivals Manchester United and Liverpool, Sports Mole looks at Alexis Sanchez's past record against the Reds.

Manchester United host Liverpool on Sunday hoping to boost their own top-four hopes while derailing the title ambitions of their biggest rivals.

The reverse fixture proved to be the final match of the Jose Mourinho era, and since then Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has led United to 11 wins from his 13 games as interim boss.

As a result, the Red Devils will be feeling a lot more confident about their chances of toppling the old enemy than they were just over two months ago, particularly after beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Monday night.

Alexis Sanchez was consigned to a cameo appearance off the bench in that match and may have to settle for the same again at Old Trafford having still failed to show his best form for the Red Devils.

The Chilean was close to joining Liverpool before instead choosing Arsenal in 2014, and here Sports Mole looks at his past record against the Reds.

Sanchez missed the reverse fixture at Anfield through injury, meaning that his only taste of facing Liverpool with United resulted in a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford last season.

That is one of only two wins the 30-year-old has ever enjoyed against Liverpool, though, with the other coming in his debut season at Arsenal as the Gunners ran out 4-1 winners at the Emirates.

Sanchez scored one and assisted another in that game for his best return when facing the Reds, although he was also on the scoresheet for Arsenal during his final season at the club.

Both of the Chilean's wins - and both of his goals - have come in home games against Liverpool, with his best return away from home being an assist in a 3-1 defeat for Arsenal during the 2016-17 campaign.
