Half-Time Report: Edin Dzeko earns lead for Manchester City at Old Trafford

Edin Dzeko scores inside the first minute as Manchester City take a 1-0 lead into the break in their meeting with Manchester United.

Edin Dzeko's goal in the opening minute has earned Manchester City a 1-0 lead over Manchester United at half time.

The visitors made the perfect start to the match at Old Trafford when Dzeko tapped in the opening goal from close range after Samir Nasri saw his effort strike the post.

City could have doubled their lead before the 10-minute mark, but David Silva failed to make the required connection with his effort following a through-ball from Yaya Toure.

Manuel Pellegrini's side continued to look the more dangerous side going forward, with Dzeko only being denied a second goal by David de Gea's outstretched hand.

The hosts created an opportunity to level the scores midway through the first half when a cross reached Marouane Fellaini, but the Belgian failed to beat Joe Hart with a miscued volley.

United improved as the first half progressed, but failed to find an equaliser before the half-time whistle was blown.
