Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen admits that there are "lots of things we need to change" following his side's 6-3 derby defeat to Manchester City.

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has admitted that there are "lots of things we need to change" following his side's 6-3 defeat to Manchester City this afternoon.

The Red Devils found themselves on the wrong end of the highest-scoring Manchester derby in history at the Etihad Stadium as Erling Braut Haaland and Phil Foden both netted hat-tricks for the hosts.

Erik ten Hag's side were 4-0 down at half time - the second time that has happened already this season - and despite goals from Antony and Anthony Martial (2) restoring some respect to the final scoreline, they were blown away by their local rivals.

Ten Hag vowed to change his side's attitude in the wake of the "unacceptable" defeat, and Eriksen echoed those comments by admitting that the 20-time champions need to substantially improve.

"It came very heavy. Everyone feels it was a very bad day at the office. We started on the wrong foot. They had chances straight from kickoff. We can only blame ourselves," the Danish playmaker told Sky Sports News.

"We missed a bit of courage to play out from the back and we let them be at their strength. The main focus from this game will be on ourselves.

"There are a lot of things we need to change and a lot of things we need to do better. Today was far from acceptable from what we should be doing."

The defeat ends a four-match winning streak for Man United in the Premier League, leaving them eight points behind Man City and nine adrift of leaders Arsenal.
