A frustrating summer transfer window has now closed with Manchester United having missed out on a number of their top targets, including Jadon Sancho.
The Red Devils were busy on deadline day, though, bringing in Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri, in addition to agreeing a deal to sign Amad Traore in January. Attention will now switch to other business they may do when the window reopens in the winter.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.
Thursday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:
Manchester United 'to offer Hakan Calhanoglu five-year contract'
Manchester United are reportedly preparing to offer AC Milan attacker Hakan Calhanoglu a five-year contract to make the move to Old Trafford on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old has been in excellent form for Milan during the 2020-21 campaign, scoring four times and providing four assists in eight appearances in all competitions.
The Turkey international will be out of contract next June, though, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, United are interested in bringing him to the Premier League.
The report claims that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are preparing to tempt the attacker with the offer of a five-year contract, but Milan are allegedly still hopeful of agreeing fresh terms before the end of 2020.
Calhanoglu moved to San Siro from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017 and has 137 appearances for the Italian giants in all competitions, contributing 27 goals and 40 assists in the process.
A number of Spanish clubs are also believed to be keeping a close eye on developments.
Paul Scholes urges Manchester United to sign Dayot Upamecano
RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano would be an ideal signing for Manchester United, according to the English club's former midfielder Paul Scholes.
The France international is widely expected to leave Leipzig during next summer's transfer window, and United are said to be firmly in the hunt for his services.
Upamecano could not prevent Leipzig from suffering a 5-0 defeat to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in the Champions League on Wednesday night, but Scholes has urged the 20-time English champions to move for the 22-year-old in 2021.
"This is the type of defender I think United need, he's very different to [Harry] Maguire and [Victor] Lindelof," Scholes told BT Sport. "He absolutely loves one-on-ones, he loves getting down that channel because he knows he's gonna beat them. It's very much the same as what Rio [Ferdinand] used to do, what Jaap Stam used to do.
"It frees the rest of the team to worry about attacking play, because you know you've got a centre-half who is going to defend and he'll do it all day."
Upamecano, who has also been linked with Liverpool, will allegedly have a €42m (£38m) release clause in his contract next summer.
