Jose Mourinho names an unchanged Manchester United side for the trip to Southampton.

Jose Mourinho has named an unchanged Manchester United side for the trip to Southampton this afternoon.

The Portuguese manager shuffled his pack for the midweek victory over Burton Albion in midweek but today reverts to the same starting XI that delivered a 4-0 victory over Everton last weekend.

That sees Marcus Rashford play alongside Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as support for Romelu Lukaku up front, with Anthony Martial again starting the game on the bench despite scoring against both the Toffees and Albion.

Ashley Young keeps his place on the left of the back four, with Antonio Valencia on the right and Mourinho's preferred partnership of Eric Bailly and Phil Jones in the middle.

David de Gea was rested for the EFL Cup but is back between the posts today, while Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini continue in defensive midfield roles.

Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino also names an unchanged side following the 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace last weekend, with Virgil van Dijk again starting the match among the substitutes after eight months out with an ankle injury.

Shane Long plays in a lone striker role, with attacking support coming from Steven Davis, who bagged the winner against the Eagles, Dusan Tadic and Nathan Redmond.

Oriol Romeu and Mario Lemina sit in front of Cedric Soares, Maya Yoshida, Wesley Hoedt and Ryan Bertrand in the backline, while Fraser Forster has the gloves.

Joining Van Dijk on the bench is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who returns after missing the last game due to the birth of his daughter.

Southampton: Forster; Soares, Hoedt, Yoshida, Bertrand; Lemina, Romeu; Tadic, Davis, Redmond; Long
Subs: McCarthy, Van Dijk, Pied, Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg, Gabbiadini, Austin

Manchester United: De Gea; Valencia, Bailly, Jones, Young; Matic, Fellaini; Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford; Lukaku
Subs: Romero, Blind, Smalling, Carrick, Herrera, Lingard, Martial
