Manchester United are reportedly prepared to rival Liverpool to the signing of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate this summer.
Jurgen Klopp's side are believed to have identified the Frenchman as a possible signing in the upcoming market, even though Leipzig's sporting director Markus Krosche recently played down talk of a switch to Anfield.
Like Liverpool, Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also keen to sign a new central defender this summer, and Konate is allegedly another player that has been added to their list of potential targets.
United's primary centre-back targets remain Villarreal's Pau Torres and Sevilla's Jules Kounde, but according to Eurosport, failing to sign one of these La Liga defenders could see United turn their attention to Konate.
The 21-year-old is thought to be valued at around £34m by the German outfit and will only be allowed to leave the club if the right offer is made.
Konate, who has suffered with an ankle injury for much of this season, has made only 10 Bundesliga appearances, scoring once in a 3-0 victory over Freiburg in November.
