Report: Liverpool, Manchester United battle for Dani Alves

A report claims that Liverpool will go head-to-head with Manchester United for the signing of Barcelona full-back Dani Alves on a free transfer this summer.

Liverpool have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to sign Barcelona defender Dani Alves this summer.

The 31-year-old is entering the final few months of his contract at Camp Nou and it is understood that he will seek pastures new at the end of the season.

The right-back's agent, Dinorah Santana, revealed last week that the Brazilian was in "advanced talks" with another team, but did not reveal which club.

Manchester United are said to lead the race, but according to The Mirror, Liverpool are also hopeful of signing the experienced full-back.

Alves has been with Barca since 2008, making more than 300 appearances for the Spanish side.
