Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have no plans to sell star striker Harry Kane this summer and will continue contract talks into the final year of his deal if necessary.

Tottenham Hotspur currently have no plans to entertain offers for star striker Harry Kane this summer, according to a report.

The 29-year-old is running down the clock on the final 18 months of his contract with Tottenham, who could lose him on a free transfer at the end of next season.

Tottenham managed to retain Kane's services in 2021 despite his well-documented desire to leave, and they are fighting tooth and nail to tie him down to fresh terms.

However, unless Antonio Conte's side can make an unprecedented late charge to the top of the Premier League table, Kane will turn 30 without having won a major trophy.

Spurs have been eliminated from both the Champions League and FA Cup this month, leading to increased speculation surrounding the future of the England captain as he winds down his contract.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich, who are seeking successors to Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski respectively, are believed to be the two main contenders to sign Kane in the upcoming window.

Man United are rumoured to have made contact over a possible transfer, while Bayern's honorary president Uli Hoeness recently claimed that the Englishman's signing would be "awesome".

However, The Athletic reports that Tottenham are not considering selling their all-time record goalscorer at the end of the season and are wholly focused on agreeing fresh terms with the striker.

Rather than consider a sale this summer if he does not renew, the report claims that Tottenham will take the risk of keeping him for the 2023-24 season while negotiations continue.

Spurs would run the risk of letting Kane leave for free in 2024 if talks fail to bear fruit, though, three years after turning down nine-figure bids from Manchester City.

Tottenham are said to have entered preliminary talks with Kane's camp over a new contract, but nothing is advanced just yet as the England skipper remains focused on the rest of the season.

The 29-year-old surpassed Jimmy Greaves's all-time Tottenham Hotspur scoring record last month and now sits on 270 strikes and 63 assists from 424 games for the North London giants in all tournaments.

Kane has 22 goals and four assists to his name from 38 contests in all tournaments this term, including a brace in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in North London.

The striker's double took him up to 20 goals in the Premier League for a sixth season, becoming only the third player to achieve that feat after Alan Shearer and Sergio Aguero.

Victory over the Tricky Trees allowed Tottenham to cement their fourth-placed standing in the Premier League table, and they now sit six points clear of Liverpool following the Reds' 1-0 loss to Bournemouth.
