Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson could be set to miss "months" of action due to his calf injury.
The 29-year-old has scored six times in 15 outings for the Magpies so far this season, making him the club's leading scorer in the top flight.
However, Wilson suffered a calf problem during their recent 1-1 draw with Manchester United, which is now set to be assessed with fears that he could be out for the foreseeable future.
"Callum's injury looks severe, weeks maybe months. I feared for him when he went down with nobody around him. A pull. Allan, I don't think is as serious," Eddie Howe told the press.
Newcastle saw their match against Everton postponed earlier this week due to a lack of available players following the worsening injury situation coupled with coronavirus.
The Magpies are set to face Southampton on Sunday where a victory has the potential to take them out of the relegation zone.
