Newcastle United secure chief scout Graham Carr for eight years

Newcastle United's chief scout Graham Carr pens a fresh eight-year deal at the Premier League club.

Newcastle United have announced that the club's chief scout Graham Carr has put pen to paper on an eight-year deal at the North East club.

Focus on the 67-year-old has grown this year following the Magpies' captures of Papiss Cisse, Hatem Ben Arfa, Cheick Tiote and Yohan Cabaye, whom Carr played an integral role in luring to the Sports Direct Arena.

Newcastle's managing director Derek Llambias told the club's official website: "We are delighted to have agreed an eight-year deal with Graham, and very pleased that he has committed his long-term future to the club.

"He has been instrumental in helping us to bring some truly exceptional players to Newcastle United and he has deservedly built one of the best reputations in the business.

"Graham works tirelessly to identify talented young players from across the world and has done a magnificent job over the last two years. He has the complete faith and support of the owner, the board and the manager, and it is excellent news that the club will continue to benefit from his expertise for many years to come."

Carr moved to Newcastle in 2010 following scouting stints for Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
