Newcastle United are reportedly considering whether to step up their interest in signing Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos.
Last weekend, the Magpies started the new Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, Callum Wilson netting the second strike during the game at St James' Park.
However, Eddie Howe has, so far, only added defensive-minded players to his squad, the Englishman insisting that he is happy with his options at the other end of the pitch.
Nevertheless, with just under three weeks remaining of the summer transfer window, the North East outfit seemingly remain in the market for a new frontman.
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are contemplating whether to pursue a deal for highly-regarded attacker Ramos.

With Darwin Nunez having moved to Liverpool, Ramos is expected to take on more of a regular role in the Benfica attack during the 2022-23 season.
The 21-year-old has already contributed three goals and an assist from his three outings in all competitions, each of his strikes coming in the Champions League against FC Midtjylland.
However, while Benfica are in no rush to cash in on the Portugal Under-21 international, it is claimed that a fee of in excess of £25m may tempt them into a sale.
Naturally, Newcastle are not the only team to be linked with a move for the player with Paris Saint-Germain said to be monitoring the situation.

Newly-appointed head coach Christophe Galtier acknowledged at a press conference on Thursday that he would sign a new striker before the end of the month.
Forest are also allegedly keen on securing a deal for Ramos, although the East Midlands side can only be regarded as outsiders at this stage.
While Wolverhampton Wanderers were credited with an interest earlier in the summer, they have since signed Goncalo Guedes from Valencia.
Ramos still has four years remaining on his contract at Estadio da Luz.
