FIFA call press conference following arrests of officials on 'corruption'

FIFA announce that a press conference will be held at 10am (11am CET) following the arrests of six football officials in relation to alleged corruption.

FIFA will hold a press conference at 10am (11am CET) following the arrests of six football officials in relation to bribery allegations.

This morning, more than a dozen plainclothes Swiss police raided the five-star Baur au Lac hotel in Zurich, where FIFA executives are based for their annual meeting.

The New York Times has named nine football officials, one of which is FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb, among 14 individuals who have reportedly been charged in relation to alleged bribery, corruption and racketeering.

Shortly after the news emerged a tweet from FIFA media read: "A press conference will be held at the home of FIFA at 11:00am CET this morning. FIFA's Director of Communications and Public Affairs Walter De Gregorio will be available to answer questions from the media."

President Sepp Blatter, who is expected to be re-elected for a fifth term on Friday, is not believed to be among those arrested.
