How Portugal could line up against Ukraine

Sports Mole looks at how Portugal could line up in Monday night's Euro 2020 qualifier with Ukraine.

Portugal's pursuit of Group B leaders Ukraine will continue on Monday night as they side travel to Kiev for a key Euro 2020 qualifier.

Ukraine are currently top of the section with 16 points - five points clear of second-placed Portugal, who have a game in hand as the two teams battle for first spot in the group.

Fernando Santos's side will enter the match off the back of a 3-0 win over Luxembourg on Friday night, where Bernardo Silva, Cristiano Ronaldo and Goncalo Guedes all scored for the Iberian nation.

Monday's clash will be a much tougher assignment for the UEFA Nations League winners, though, as they look to halt the progress of Andriy Shevchenko's in-form side.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Portugal could line up on Monday night.

POSS POR XI vs. UKR

Portugal were without the services of holding midfielder William Carvalho on Friday night through injury; that will again be the case for this match, meaning that Danilo Pereira should start in the middle of the park.

Ruben Neves for Wolverhampton Wanderers teammate Joao Moutinho is an alteration that could occur in the middle of the park, although there are not expected to be many changes from the clash with Luxembourg.

Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix and Ronaldo are almost certain to continue as the front three in a 4-3-3 formation, with Guedes starting on the bench despite registering a late goal last time out.

Pepe and Ruben Dias are largely expected to continue in central defence, while goalscoring midfielder Bruno Fernandes - strongly linked with Manchester United over the summer - will keep his spot in the middle of the park.
