Craig Whyte 'sympathises' with Rangers

Rangers owner Craig Whyte says that he has "enormous sympathy" for those about to be made redundant from the club.

Rangers owner Craig Whyte has claimed that he has "enormous sympathy" for staff within the club that are about to lose their jobs with the SPL champions.

An announcement from the club's administrators regarding redundancies is imminent following their decision to postpone cuts yesterday.

There are fears that a number of the senior players will either be let go from the Scottish outfit or take a significant pay cut as London firm Duff and Phelps continue to solve Rangers' financial woes.

"Clearly I've got enormous sympathy for anyone who's losing their job in this process," Whyte told STV. "But, what I would say is, that Rangers were a company in enormous financial distress long before I came along.

"This is part of solving the problem to make Rangers a stronger business when it comes out of administration."

Rangers fell into administration last month.
