Cristiano Ronaldo fit for Cordoba clash

Cristiano Ronaldo is declared fit for Real Madrid's La Liga opener at home to Cordoba on Monday evening.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo is fit for their La Liga opener at home to Cordoba on Monday evening.

The Portuguese has been struggling with a back injury over the last week, which forced him into a bit-part role in the recent Spanish Super Cup tie against Atletico Madrid.

However, at a press conference this morning, Ancelotti maintained that the attacker had trained this weekend and therefore would be available for selection on Monday.

Fellow La Liga title rivals Barcelona open against Elche this evening, while champions Atletico Madrid travel to Rayo Vallecano tomorrow.
