Sevilla return to Europa League final

Sevilla return to the final of the Europa League by cruising to a 5-0 aggregate win over Fiorentina in their semi-final tie.

Holders Sevilla booked their return to the Europa League final by beating Fiorentina 2-0 in the second leg of their semi-final tie this evening.

The Spaniards had claimed a 3-0 victory in last week's first leg and they comfortably wrapped up a 5-0 aggregate win to keep alive their defence of the trophy.

Vitolo caused a moment of panic early on for the home side's defence, when his low delivery flashed through the legs of the keeper and dangerously across the box.

Borja Valero then blazed over the bar and Mohamed Salah saw a shot blocked as the hosts searched for the opening goal.

They soon came even closer to breaking the deadlock when Gonzalo Rodriguez's header was palmed away by Sergio Rico.

However, it was Sevilla who took the lead midway through the first half when Carlos Bacca fired into the roof of the net from close range after the hosts had failed to clear Ever Banega's free kick.

Daniel Carrico added a second goal for the visitors five minutes later with a close-range finish from Coke's low cross.

Coke then had a great chance to grab a third goal for his side just before the break, but after being picked out inside the box by Banega, he fired his effort over the bar.

Fiorentina looked to restore some pride to the scoreline after the break and Salah threatened to pull a goal back with a fierce strike that was palmed away by Rico.

The hosts were then given the chance to get on the scoresheet as Grzegorz Krychowiak gave away a penalty for bringing down David Pizarro inside the box.

Josip Ilicic stepped up to take the spot kick, but he ended up blazing his strike high over the bar.

Vincenzo Montella's side continued to search for a goal and Milan Badelj saw his low effort from the edge of the box pushed behind by the keeper.

However, they were unable to find the back of the net, as Sevilla confirmed their place in the final for the fourth time in the past 10 seasons.
