Juan Antonio Reyes set the home side on their way minutes before the break in fortuitous circumstances when goalkeeper Samir Handanovic hammered straight at the forward before watching the ball nestle into the back of the net.

Kevin Gameiro doubled the lead on the hour mark when he drove towards the edge of the box before unleashing a low effort into the bottom corner.

Dare Vrsic pulled back a consolation for the visitors late on, but it was of no consequence as the Spaniards went through 4-3 on aggregate.
