Adam Lallana eager to play in Champions League

Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana admits that playing in the Champions League is one of his targets.

Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana has admitted that he is hoping to play in the Champions League in the future as well as appear at this summer's World Cup.

Lallana's impressive form for the Saints this season has seen him been capped three times by England, and he believes his performances in the closing stages of the campaign could secure his spot in Brazil.

"In the long term I would love to feature and play in Champions League football, but I'm sure everyone in our team will tell you that," the 25-year-old told Sky Sports News.

"For the moment I'm just really focused on the remaining part of the season. It's going to be a tough eight to nine weeks and hopefully fingers crossed a busy summer.

"I need to keep working hard, concentrate on my fitness and on my form. I'm fully focused on trying to get the club into the Europa League and hopefully by doing that I'll be able to force myself into the squad."

Lallana and his Southampton teammates take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.
