Mauricio Pochettino: 'I want four new players"

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino refuses to comment on recent transfer speculation, but reveals that he wants "four players" before the August deadline.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has refused to comment on the recent transfer speculation surrounding his club, but has revealed that he wants to sign "four players" before the August deadline.

Spurs are yet to bring in any new players for the 2017-18 campaign, although it has been reported that a deal for Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez is close to completion.

Pochettino said that he 'would not speak about rumours' when questioned on Sanchez, but the Argentine has insisted that it will be a busy end to the transfer window.

"I won't speak about rumours. We expect to sign some players in the transfer window. Our aim is to improve the squad and bring new faces and new energy to the squad because it is a long season," Pochettino told reporters. "I want four players. It's possible, yes, but it's not easy."

Tottenham opened their new Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory at Newcastle United last weekend. Next up for Spurs is a home game against London rivals Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
