Martin O'Neill has revealed that he is eager to add to his goalscoring options this summer.
Having recently lost Nicklas Bendtner and Asamoah Gyan, O'Neill only has the youthful striking trio of Fraizer Campbell, Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-won at his disposal.
With that in mind, O'Neill has conceded that he is in need of more experience in the final third of the pitch.
"Undoubtedly, what is focusing my mind more than anything else is the need to strengthen our attacking options," he told the Sunderland Echo.
"We have lost Nicklas Bendtner after his loan, we have lost Asamoah Gyan from our squad list and we need to bring in strikers.
"What I am looking to do is bring in attacking players who have quality and who have more experience than we have now, because, when you look at our squad in terms of attackers, we are short on experience and it's something we need to try to address."
The Black Cats have recently been linked with Aston Villa frontman Gabriel Agbonlahor.
