Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has confirmed that Garry Monk will be kept on as club captain despite being linked with a move away from the club.
Monk, who has been told by Laudrup that he is not in his first-team plans, has attracted interest from Bristol City, who could offer an emergency loan deal for the defender.
However, Laudrup insists that 33-year-old will be the captain for as long as he is at the club, while Ashley Williams will lead the team on the pitch if Monk doesn't play.
"For me, while he is here, Garry will be the captain," Laudrup told the South Wales Evening Post.
"He is captain of the club and when he plays he will be captain of the team.
"But when he does not play, it's Ashley and so on."
Monk joined Swansea in 2004 with the club in League Two and has played in every division in the Football League with the Swans.
