Swansea City manager Garry Monk has revealed that the club have begun talks with Ashley Williams regarding a new contract.
The 29-year-old defender, who comes to the end of his current terms next summer, is believed to have attracted interest from newly-promoted Premier League side Queens Park Rangers.
While some reports have claimed that Swansea are open to offers, Monk has insisted that the club want Williams to stay put.
"We're in negotiations with his representatives and trying to put a deal across so that Ash will be here for the future of the club," BBC Sport quotes Monk as saying.
"I know Ash wants that, I want that, the club wants that and that's what we're working towards as we speak."
The Wales international joined Swansea back in 2008 from Stockport County.
