West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Irvine has admitted that he has been given a "selection problem" by Cristian Gamboa.
The Costa Rica international started in the Premier League for the first time on Saturday afternoon at Liverpool and he put in an impressive performance.
When asked by the Express & Star about 24-year-old's display, Irvine said: "Cristian has been waiting for his chance and he showed the energy and the enthusiasm that we saw from him in the World Cup.
"He was a player I was really keen for us to get. We had competition but fortunately he decided this was the best place for him to come. I was hoping he would give me a selection problem and he has done that."
Reports have suggested that Gamboa may retain his place in the starting lineup when West Brom play host to Manchester United after the international break.
