West Ham co-chairman David Gold says that most Premier League clubs voted in favour of financial restrictions in the top flight.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has revealed that the majority of Premier League clubs have voted yes to financial fair play.

A meeting today was held with the top-flight clubs over the possibility of introducing spending controls and a salary cap, which Gold has stated most of the clubs voted to implement.

"We have all voted and it was overwhelmingly supported, not by all the clubs, some are a little concerned, but the vast majority of the clubs voted in favour," The Guardian quotes Gold as saying.

The Premier League are expected to announce the details of the potential new rules later today.
