Brazilian outfit Palmeiras have admitted that they are admirers of Hulk, but have insisted that they have not even considered a bid for the Zenit St Petersburg striker.
The 27-year-old is known to be a fan of his native club, who apparently hope to mark their centenary year in 2014 with the arrival of a marquee signing.
It has been suggested that Hulk, who cost Zenit around £34m in 2012, and would also be a pricey investment for any suitor now, is Palmeiras's number one choice, but they have accepted that he is an unrealistic target.
Executive director Jose Carlos Brunoro told Globo Esporte: "We are always interested, but that is a lie. There is no chance that happens. We haven't even thought about it."
Zenit have previously indicated that they may be willing to loan out their Brazilian international frontman, and apparently quoted Tottenham Hotspur £10m to take him for the 2013-2014 season.
