Japan secure historic Wales victory

Japan record a 23-8 win over Wales to secure their first triumph over the Red Dragons in their history.

A superb second-half display has helped Japan record their first ever Test victory over Wales in Tokyo.

The Asian nation held a narrow advantage at half time, before tries from Craig Wing and Michael Broadhurst gave their side the platform to secure a 23-8 success.

Wales are missing as many as 15 players due to the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia, but they had enough to beat their hosts last weekend.

However, it was a different story second time around, as Ayumu Goramaru kicked six of his 13 points to give Japan a 6-3 lead at the break.

Tom Prydie went over for a try early in the second half as the visitors edged in front, but that didn't dent the confidence of the home side.

Wing responded with a touchdown to encourage the Tokyo crowd, before Broadhurst secured victory 11 minutes on time to give Japan their first win over the Red Dragons at the ninth attempt.
