Maria Sharapova has insisted that she is proud of her run at the French Open following her defeat to Serena Williams in the final.
The defending champion was beaten 6-4 6-4 by the world number one at Roland Garros on Saturday.
"I'm really proud to be on this stage, in front of you all, your endless support means so much to me," Sharapova told the crowd. "I love being part of this tournament, being part of this event."
Sharapova will now turn her attention to Wimbledon, which starts on June 24.
