Live Commentary: AC Milan 0-1 Inter Milan - as it happened

Live text commentary of the derby match between AC Milan and Inter Milan at the San Siro.

Good evening and welcome to Sports Mole's live commentary of the Milan derby at the San Siro.

Both clubs are desperate for a win tonight but for very different reasons as Inter Milan look to close the gap on league leaders Juventus.

AC Milan will be hoping a victory against their fiercest rivals will kick-start their season after a disappointing start to the new campaign.

There's sure to be plenty of excitement and you can follow the drama below.

FTStramaccioni runs over to the Inter fans shouting, in Italian, "It's yours! it's yours!". It's a superb win for Inter but Allegri has some more questions to answer. Thanks for joining me and goodnight.

FTOf course, it wouldn't be a Milan derby without some handbags. Mexes and Milito look to be the main people involved but they're quickly separated.

FTFull Time: Inter survive one last Milan attack and the referee blows the final whistle. Inter are the winners of the first derby this season and Milan's season continues to falter.

92 minsRobinho looks as though he's created a chance for himself but the assistant referee raises his falg before he can finish past Handanovic.

91 minsMontolivo hits yet another long range shot and a deflection leaves Handanovic helpless bu the ball goes wide and the resulting corner is cleared.

89 minsCrosses continue to be delivered into the Inter box but Stramaccioni's side are holding on and win a free kick in the Milan half to earn a brief respite.

86 minsMilan are getting increasingly frustrated here as time looks to running out.

84 minsMexes wastes a good opportunity when the ball falls to him from a deep free kick. The defender's half volley lands somewhere in the stand behind the goal.

83 minsThere's appeals from nearly everywhere in the San Siro as the referee decides against awarding Robinho a penalty. The Brazilian sprinted past Samuel but there isn't much contact and Pazzini is then booked for dissent.

82 minsInter nearly extend their lead against the run of play when Zanetti finds Palacio but the substitute's weak effort is easily stopped by Abbiati.

81 minsSomehow inter survive again when Pazzini fails to make contact with a headed pass from Robinho. Handanovic does well to clear the danger and he wins a free kick in the process.

78 minsA corner is cleared only as far as Emanuelson but his shot rolls inches wide of the far post with Handanovic watching in hope.

77 minsRobinho delivers a beautifully weighted cross towards Pazzini at the back post but the striker can't get a touch on the ball. It's the closest Milan have come to a goal.

75 minsPalacio isn't fooling anyone with a ridiculous dive after launching a counter attack. Stramaccioni is furious but I can't work out why.

73 minsGuarin saves Inter by clearing the ball just before Robinho looked set to head in from six yards out.

71 minsPazzini is finally introduced by Allegri for El Shaarawy and Milito comes off for inter to be replaced by Rodrigo Palacio.

70 minsInter defending like heroes but with 20 minutes remaining, Millan still have time to change this game.

68 minsIt's another close call as Handanovic spills a Montolivo shot but Bojan slips before he can finish from close range.

67 minsInter still trying to create chances on the break but they're reluctant to commit too many players forward.

64 minsMilan come so close to an equaliser! Montolivo is denied a spectacular goal by Handanovic and Bojan collects the rebound before setting up Prince-Boateng. However, the former Portsmouth midfielder fires the ball into the ground and over the bar.

62 minsRobinho's height counts against him as he's a matter of inches away from making good contact with Bojan cross.

60 minsThe tempo to Milan's play has increased now but the Inter defence are remaining stubborn. Samuel has had a great game.

57 minsRobinho is sent on by Allegri and he is the kind of player who could make the difference here. De Sciglio is the player he replaces.

55 minsMilan beginning to turn the screw but when the ball drops to Montolivo, the midfielder can only send his shot into the stands.

54 minsCassano is sacrificed for Inter as they bring on Alvaro pereira for extra cover. He applauds Inter's fans but is once again jeered by Milan's.

52 minsQuestionable foul as the assistant referee signals for a free kick after a good tackle on Cassano by De Sciglio.

51 minsBonera is clearly struggling with an injury and is replaced by Ignazio Abate.

49 minsRed Card: It could be a very big moment in the match as Nagatomo is shown a second yellow card. The full back tries to block a pass with his arm and is booked for deliberate handball. Allegri looks delighted while Stramaccioni is furious.

47 minsBojan gets slightly lucky in a challenge with Nagatomo but he fails to pick out anyone with his cross.

46 minsCoutinho is coming off and Stramaccioni has replaced him with Fredy Guarin, Milan get us underway.

HTThe players are making their way out now, the second half is less than a minute away.

HTIt's been a very tense first period but keep an eye on Cassano. He's being jeered by ever Milan fan but it looks like it's spurring him on.

HTYou can read a report of the action from the first half here: Milan 0-1 Inter

HTYou get the feeling that Milan needed to score while they were on top. Inter will come back into the game and they can't afford to gift Milito another opportunity.

HTHalf Time: Inter survive late pressure to take the lead into the break. Samuel's goal separates the two sides but Milan's response has been very good.

45 minsBojan has been quiet in this half but he earns a corner with a powerful strike that Handanovic can't keep hold of.

44 minsEmanuelson is becoming more and more of a threat to Inter's defence. The tricky winger delivers a dangerous ball but Samuel does well to clear.

42 minsAllegri looks very nervous on the sidelines and you certainly don't need to tell him about the importance of tonight's result.

40 minsHandanovic may have been given a lifeline by the referee as he charges out to punch the ball away from Emanuelson. The whistle goes before Montolivo drills the ball into the top corner but it's a very controversial call.

38 minsRoars of disapproval from the San Siro crowd as De Jong is booked for what looks like a very good tackle on Gargano.

37 minsA superb tackle from Emanuelson falls to Prince-Boateng but he misses the target again from the edge of the box.

36 minsNagatomo is far too quick for Bonera on the left wing but Montolivo tracks him well to help out his teammate.

35 minsMexes continues his battle with Milito and he mistimes a challenge again but he is awarded a yellow card this time.

34 minsMilan survive a very dangerous Inter attack. Gargano is halted in the box by Yepes but the ball falls to milito, who fires wide.

32 minsBonera returns to his defensive duties and he does well to win a goal kick from Cassano's cross.

31 minsMilan nearly level though as Bonera cuts the ball back for Prince-Boateng but his shot is inches wide of Handanovic's post.

30 minsInter haven't created much since those two early chances but they still hold the advantage.

29 minsMilan go close to opening up the Inter defence but Samuel does brilliantly to stop Emanuelson getting a shot at goal.

28 minsMexes is a bit too eager to win a header and he fouls Milito. Poor defending from the centre back.

26 minsThe corner is too deep and Milan are still yet to create a clear chance.

25 minsEmanuelson has a free kick in a dangerous area but it's a poor delivery and he'll get a second try from a corner.

23 minsEl Shaarawy creates some space for himself but a long range strike is easily saved by Handanovic.

21 minsThere's some nice passing on the edge of the Inter box from Milan but the promising attack comes to nothing.

20 minsInter are happy to let Milan have the ball but there isn't much threat from them at the moment.

17 minsMilan's first corner drops to Bonera and the defender attempts a spectacular volley but it's far too high.

16 minsKevin Prince-Boateng has picked up a yellow card for a foul on Militio. it's a frustrated challenge.

14 minsEmanuelson wins a free kick for Milan and they nearly take advantage as it's taken short but a dipping strike from Montolivo is wide.

12 minsMilan are starting to enjoy some possession but an ambitious pass from El Shaarawy goes out for a goal kick.

11 minsMilan threaten to start a counter attack but the referee gets in the way to stop their progress.

9 minsPlenty to think about for Allegri, his side just haven't started. Excellent pressure on the ball early on by Inter.

7 minsWhat a chance for Milito! The ball is given away and Milito finds himself one on one with Abbiati but his shot is blocked and he fails to head in the rebound. Milan are on the ropes!

4 minsAllegri's mood will not have been improved by the opening goal from Inter. The free kick from Cassano evades the Milan defence and Samuel sneaks in at the back post to head his side into the lead.

4 minsGoal! Milan 0-1 Inter (Samuel)

3 minsCassano is fouled by Bonera and it's a free kick in a dangerous area for Inter. Allegri is not happy and he vents his anger towards the referee. He's lucky to not be sent off.

1 minInter get the match underway.

7.45pmZanetti and Abbiati lead their respective sides out, it's time for the Milan derby to begin and complete this superb weekend of football.

7.42pmWe're fast approaching kick-off now as the players begin to fill the tunnel.

7.38pmDiego Millito starts for Inter. In my eyes he's a rarity in football these days. An old fashioned striker who just wants to score goal rather than be involved with the build up play. On his day, he can be lethal.

7.35pmOf course, both sides play at the San Siro but this is Milan's home fixture tonight.

7.35pmAllegri has left Robinho and Giampaolo Pazzini on the bench, meaning Bojan has a big role to play for the home side tonight.

7.31pmMassimiliano Allegri really needs a win tonight. The Milan manager has been under pressure since the beginning of the season but a victory will surely buy him some time. However, a loss could see his position be called into question once again.

7.26pmInter boss Andrea Stramaccioni has said that there are no favourites in this match but if there is, it's surely his side.

7.23pmBoth of these sides are playing second fiddle so far this season to Juventuts. The Old Lady won again earlier today, against Siena.

7.18pnOver 70,000 people inside the San Siro tonight so you can count on there being a fiery atmosphere.

7.15pmIn case you hadn't noticed, I'll be referring to AC Milan as just Milan and Inter Milan as simply Inter.

7.14pmInter: Handanovic, Ranocchia, Samuel, Juan Jesus, Zanetti, Gargano, Cambiasso, Nagatomo, Coutinho, Milito, Cassano.

7.13pmMilan: Abbiati, Bonera, Yepes, Mexes, De Sciglio, De Jong, Montolivo, Emanuelosn, Boateng, El Shaarawy, Bojan

7.12pmBefore we go any further, here are the teams for tonight.

7.09pmHello everyone, I hope you're looking forward to this as much as I am. It's one of the biggest matches in world football and I'll be here for the next couple of hours to talk you through it.
