Preview: Cesena vs. AC Milan

Sports Mole looks ahead to Sunday's Serie A clash between newly-promoted Cesena and AC Milan.

AC Milan will look to get back to winning ways in Serie A when they face Cesena at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi on Sunday afternoon.

Filippo Inzaghi's side began the campaign with consecutive victories, but are now without a win in two having lost to Juventus last weekend and drawn with Empoli on Tuesday.

While the results may have been disappointing, fans can certainly not complain about the entertainment value they have been provided so far.

Milan have scored or conceded no fewer than 18 goals in their opening four fixtures, with the only game that yielded fewer than four goals their 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Juventus.

The Rossoneri are the joint highest scorers in the league with 10 goals, level with city rivals Inter Milan, and boast two players - Keisuke Honda and Jeremy Menez - with three strikes to their name already.

However, only Parma have conceded more in the opening four matches of the campaign, and Inzaghi will need an improvement at the back if his side are to reaffirm their status as one of the big boys of Italian football.

Summer signing Fernando Torres was instrumental in helping his side recover from a two-goal deficit against Empoli, and the Spaniard is expected to start up front once again having opened his account for his new club in that match.

Fellow recruit from Chelsea Marco van Ginkel is sidelined through injury, however, while Alex, Michael Essien, Riccardo Montolivo, Riccardo Saponara and Diego Lopez are all also struggling.

Newly-promoted Cesena will be looking to take advantage of such a depleted squad as they continue to battle their way through a tricky start to life back in the top tier.

They began the campaign with a fine win over Parma, but defeats to Lazio and Juventus, with Udinese on the horizon, is about a tough a start as they could have been faced with.

They come into this match without a win in their last three games, during which time they have conceded eight goals and scored just two, both in a draw against Empoli.

Even so, 13th place is not a bad position to find themselves in after four tough games, and they will be confident at home having not lost in front of their own fans for five matches in all competitions.

The hosts will be without Giuseppe de Feudis, Andrea Tabanelli and Riccardo Cazzola for the match, while Pierpaolo Bisoli may also be tempted into making a few unenforced changes.
