Michael Essien: 'Fernando Torres will succeed at AC Milan'

Michael Essien is confident that Fernando Torres will be a success for AC Milan this season.

Michael Essien has backed Fernando Torres to score "lots of goals" for AC Milan after he opened his account for the club against Empoli.

The Chelsea striker, who is on a season-long loan at the San Siro, found the net for Milan on Tuesday during their 2-2 draw in Serie A.

While there are still plenty of doubts over the Spanish international's ability, Essien is confident that Torres will be a success for the Rossoneri.

"I am convinced we'll see lots of goals from Fernando," he told FIFA's official website. "I really hope he does well for Milan and for himself because he's a top striker and we'll benefit from his goals.

"He's a hard worker both in games and in training and that can also serve him well at Milan. One thing Milan can expect to see is 100% all the time from him."

Milan continue their Serie A campaign on Sunday when they travel to Cesena.
