Shay McCartan pens new Accrington Stanley deal

Accrington Stanley striker Shay McCartan pens a one-year contract extension with the League Two club.

Accrington Stanley striker Shay McCartan has signed a new one-year contract with the League Two club.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international joined Stanley from Burnley in 2013.

McCartan scored six goals in 36 appearances for John Coleman's side last season.

"I always knew I was going to sign here, it was just a matter of getting everything sorted," the 21-year-old told the club's official website.

"Pre-season is all about getting fit. I've been playing regularly and I feel sharp. It's probably better than I've ever felt in any other pre-season and I hope I'll be around and about the team for the first game."

Accrington Stanley start the new League Two campaign at home to Luton Town on August 8.
