Giorgos Donis's APOEL Nicosia side are holding Dutch champions Ajax to a 1-1 draw at half time in their Champions League Group F encounter this evening.
Ajax should have taken the lead just two minutes in, but Icelandic striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson somehow turned Davy Klaassen's cross wide of goal.
Sigthorsson then spurned another good chance when he failed to connect with another dangerous cross from the right wing from Klassen.
On 28 minutes the away side took the lead through Lucas Andersen, who turned home the rebound after Urko Pardo had repelled Lasse Schone's effort.
However, APOEL were level just four minutes later when Gustavo Manduca converted from the penalty spot after Ajax defender Ricardo van Rhijn was ruled to have handled in the box.
APOEL could have taken the lead just before half time when Manduca aimed a cross towards Cillian Sheridan at the back post, but the forward couldn't quite connect.
