Samuel Eto'o never offered Inter Milan return

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o never came close to joining Inter Milan during the summer, according to the forward's agent.

Chelsea's summer signing Samuel Eto'o did not receive an offer to rejoin Serie A giants Inter Milan, according to the player's agent Claudio Vigorelli.

Eto'o clinched a reunion with Jose Mourinho last week, swapping Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala for Stamford Bridge on a one-year contract.

Inter were persistently linked with a move for the Cameroon striker before the transfer window closed on Monday night, but Vigorelli has disclosed that if Chelsea did not come calling, then a move to the Middle East was likely.

He told Tuttosport: "Inter were never really there. Had Samuel not signed for Chelsea, then he would have probably accepted a very rich offer to go and play in Qatar. However, Mourinho decided to accelerate for him and we did the deal."

The 32-year-old is in contention to make his Chelsea debut next weekend when the Blues face Everton at Goodison Park.
