Arsenal are on the verge of an historic comeback after taking a 3-0 half-time lead in their last-16 clash with AC Milan at the Emirates Stadium tonight.

Laurent Koscielny, who was part of the Gunners defence that conceded four at the San Siro in the first leg, converted from a corner to give Arsenal a seventh-minute advantage.

With the Milan defence seemingly shaken by the early goal, Robin Van Persie nearly made it 2-0 but saw his shot saved by goalkeeper Christian Abbiati.

However the home support were celebrating again when Tomas Rosicky netted a second on 26 minutes to reduce the deficit to just two goals.

Having been written off by many before the game, Arsenal increased the possibility of a remarkable turnaround when Robin Van Persie scored a third from the penalty spot.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was fouled in the box and the Gunners' captain proved as reliable as ever by converting the spot kick.

Arsene Wenger's side require two more goals to overturn the deficit and one more to force the tie into extra time.
