Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits concern over injuries suffered by Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus in the build-up to and during Tuesday's win over Sevilla.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted that he is concerned about the injuries suffered by Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey this week.

Partey was a notable absentee from the Arsenal squad for Tuesday night's Champions League victory over Sevilla, with the club confirming that he had suffered a muscle injury in training on Monday.

The Gunners enjoyed a good night without the midfielder in their ranks, picking up a 2-1 win at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan which leaves them top of Group B with six points from their three games so far.

Gabriel Jesus produced a star showing in Seville, creating the opening goal for Gabriel Martinelli with a smart turn and through-ball on the stroke of half time, and then doubling his side's lead after 53 minutes.

However, the Brazilian striker's night came to a premature end when he asked to be taken off after feeling something in his hamstring nine minutes from time.

Arteta revealed that Arsenal must now wait to learn the extent of Partey's injury, which is thought to be a thigh problem, and admitted that Jesus's issue is "not good".

"Thomas picked up an injury yesterday in training. Unfortunately it's a muscle injury. We don't know the extent of it - a big miss for us," Arteta told TNT Sports.

"[Jesus] felt something in his hamstring. Let's see. He straight away asked to be subbed which is not good news because Gabi is not a player that does that at all so we will have to wait to see in the next few days."

However, Jesus himself provided a more positive update on his injury after the match, suggesting that fatigue may have played a part too.

"Let's see. I was tired, to be honest. But I never want to go off. I always respect the manager's decision. It was unlucky. Let's see what it is," he told Sky Sports News.

Arsenal's win on Tuesday night means that they could now qualify for the knockout stages with two games to spare, having taken a four-point lead over third place in the group.

The Gunners would need to beat Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium on November 8 and hope that Lens beat PSV Eindhoven on the same night to secure their place in the Champions League last 16 at the first available opportunity.
