Nacho Monreal is likely to make his Arsenal debut against Stoke City on Saturday, amid concern regarding the fitness of Thomas Vermaelen.

Nacho Monreal has been named in Arsenal's squad to face Stoke City tomorrow and the left-back could make his Premier League debut against the Potters.

Kieran Gibbs, who has a thigh problem, has been ruled out for around six weeks, while captain Thomas Vermaelen is doubtful with an ankle injury.

Francis Coquelin remains on the sidelines with a hamstring complaint.

Gervinho is still away with the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Monreal, 26, moved to the Emirates Stadium from Malaga on deadline day.

Provisional squad: Szczesny, Monreal, Vermaelen, Mertesacker, Sagna, Podolski, Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott, Giroud, Mannone, Koscielny, Santos, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Diaby, Jenkinson, Rosicky
