Terry Burton appointed Arsenal reserve coach

Arsenal appoint Sheffield Wednesday assistant manager Terry Burton as the club's new reserve-team coach.

Sheffield Wednesday assistant manager Terry Burton has been named as the new reserve-team coach of Arsenal.

The former Gunners youth player has taken over the role after Steve Bould stepped up to the first team following Pat Rice's departure.

"I'm delighted and proud to be joining Arsenal as reserves and head development coach," the 59-year-old told the club's official website.

"Having started my career at Arsenal as a youth player, and then as a coach, I know the history, class and values of this great football club. I can't wait to get started in my new role and to meet the players and my new colleagues.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank [Wednesday manager] Dave Jones and everyone at Sheffield Wednesday for their support and understanding."

Burton has had spells with Wimbledon, Cardiff City and West Bromwich Albion during his 24-year coaching career.
