Arsene Wenger reveals that Steve Bould will replace Pat Rice as Arsenal assistant manager for next season.

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Steve Bould will replace Pat Rice as Arsenal's assistant manager for next season.

The club earlier confirmed that Rice would leave in the summer following 44 years of service as both a player and coach.

Former Gunners defender Bould has worked with the Arsenal academy since 2001 and has now been promoted to work alongside Wenger with the first team.

Speaking about Bould, the Frenchman said: "His qualities are that he has the experience of the top level game. He has managed here. He knows our football philosophy and therefore there will be continuity.

"We always want to give an advantage to people who know how we work, how we want to coach."

Bould made 288 appearances for Arsenal as a player between 1988 and 1999.
