Bolton boss Owen Coyle brands Arsene Wenger criticism "ridiculous".

Bolton boss Owen Coyle has come out in support of Arsene Wenger amid growing criticism levelled at the Arsenal manager.

Wenger has come under fire after a poor start to the season for the Gunners, who currently sit 17th in the Premier League with four points.

"We understand how the game works, but it is absolutely ridiculous," Coyle said. "Arsene Wenger is one of the best managers that football has ever been lucky enough to have.

"If Arsene was to leave Arsenal, where would you get anyone better to do the job? He is an outstanding manager.

"I know they have not won a trophy [recently], but they probably should have done last season before a bit of luck went against them. But he is still one of the best managers in world football."

The teams meet tomorrow (Saturday) in the Premier League, where a Bolton win could sink Arsenal into the relegation zone.
