Abou Diaby sees himself as Arsenal's Yaya Toure, rather than as a replacement for Alex Song.

Arsenal's Abou Diaby has insisted that he is not the man to replace Alex Song at the Emirates.

Manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that the Frenchman, who starred in the Gunners' 2-0 victory over Liverpool yesterday, could cement a place in Arsenal's midfield.

"In our teams, Yaya Toure and me have very similar roles," Diaby said.

"I am not like Alex Song. We have many players who can take his place like Francis Coquelin or Mikel Arteta, who likes to play deep. I like to get forward.

"I have defensive duties as well so I need to have good shape defensively and, as soon as we get the ball, go forward."

Diaby is currently preparing to travel to Finland with France, having been called up to the national team for the first time since June 2011.
