Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly in contention to replace Fabio Capello as England manager.

The Football Association's hierarchy have reportedly targeted Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to become the next England manager.

The national side will be in the hunt for a new coach as current boss Fabio Capello is expected to step down after next year's European Championships.

While Harry Redknapp has been the firm favourite to succeed the Italian, reports suggest that the Tottenham Hotspur manager's recent health problems and forthcoming trial for tax evasion have raised concerns within the governing body.

"Arsene's name has come up in discussions," The Express quotes an FA source as saying. "It would be strange if it hadn't. He is an internationally respected manager with a wonderful track record."

The Gunners boss previously claimed that the next Three Lions manager should be from England.
